Air Conditioning Inspections

If you own a public or commercial building, you will naturally have certain responsibilities to ensure your property meets health and safety standards and has regular maintenance on all electrical and mechanical components. What you might not know is how important an air conditioning inspection is and they are in fact a legal requirement under the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD).

The purpose of an air conditioning inspection is to improve the energy efficiency of public and commercial buildings. If undertaken regularly, the benefit of this is that you reduce the chance of having to completely replace your air conditioning unit. Regular inspections and maintenance help the unit to work more efficiently over the long term.

Air conditioning units with a combined cooling capacity greater than 12kW are required to have a valid air conditioning inspection report and a certificate in place. The inspection should be undertaken by an accredited air conditioning Energy Assessor and should be carried out once every 5 years as a minimum.

You may be aware of the TM44 Inspection – this is exactly what the air conditioning inspection is, and it is often referred to as the TM44.

TM44 guidance covers all aspects of the air conditioning inspection service, so their guidelines are closely adhered to by professional air con engineers such as ourselves.
