Washburn Heritage Centre
Completed in February 2011, the building is a modern extension to the 17th Century Fewston Church, built in 2010 by the Parochial Church Council (PCC) with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, local residents and other funders.
The extension provides a multi-purpose space with exhibitions, presentation areas and a tea room. The new service areas include toilets, a kitchen and store. The development also includes a new entrance and lobby space, providing connection between the church and the new building.
We provided underfloor heating, general heating, plumbing and electrical services which included feature lighting and a sound/projection system for the presentation suite. All work was finished to a tight deadline.
Cathedral House, Huddersfield
Cathedral house is a purpose built centre where the Huddersfield Christian Fellowship meet. The new-build project provided an auditorium, bookshop and music store, coffee shop, children’s play area, flexible meeting rooms and the church office facilities.
Completed in 2011 the project was broken up into two phases, where we provided underfloor heating, air conditioning and ventilation services. Phase one included the installation into the main church building, whereas phase two comprised of the installation works to the café, offices and crèche.
Key features of the project included a retractable baptismal tank and a feature ‘fountain tree’. The large capacity of the hall meant that the air handling unit installed was required to cope with up to 2200 people at any one time, and flexibility of climate control was vital.
The Bowes Museum, County Durham
The museum holds nationally and internationally important collections including paintings, prints, sculptures, ceramics, and silver objects d’art, in a French chateau-style Grade I listed building.
The improvement works have provided; a new restaurant at ground level, two new lift installations serving all floors, education facilities in the lower vaults, new exhibition spaces on the upper floors, and a new shop and reception area.
All works took place while the museum remained operational, and complied with stringent Grade I building requirements. The new plumbing incorporated the existing boiler, and heating and ventilation works were carried out with minimal disruption to the sensitive environment. Electrical services included feature lighting designed to highlight the exhibits.
St Williams Church, Bradford
St Williams Church is an inner city church located just outside the centre of Bradford in West Yorkshire. The church dates back to 1926 and is an important local landmark in the Brownroyd area today.
We installed a new boiler and radiators into the church, which was completed in Winter 2014. The new boiler updated the old system, providing a more efficient source of heat for the church.
The radiators that were installed were kept in keeping with the church, following the ecclesiastical backdrop. The project was completed on time and to budget, in accordance with the client’s requirements.

Rudding Park Hotel, Harrogate
A beautiful hotel set amid a Grade 1 listed ‘green belt’ landscape in Harrogate.
We provided heating, air conditioning, plumbing and electrical services for the provision of a new 48 bedroom guest wing and luxury spa extension; including five suites and four spa bedrooms. We also provide maintenance for the estate, part of a relationship with the client which spans some 30 years.
State of the art technology and wellness facilities are incorporated throughout the extension, including room automation to control lighting and temperature with a specialist touch screen system. Sanitary ware was of a high specification and a new LV substation was required to feed the entire estate. The rooms also incorporated a full VRF heat recovery system.
Kimberley Hotel, Harrogate
The Kimberley offers modern and luxurious, four star accommodation with 93 bedrooms in the heart of Harrogate. This boutique hotel, originally several Victorian townhouses, has been fully restored to retain many original features, which have been blended with contemporary style and state of the art facilities.
Robinsons provided the heating, plumbing and electrical services for the 40 bedroom extension which was completed on time, in June 2009. The installations took place while the hotel was fully operational, ensuring as little disruption as possible.
In addition to the heating, plumbing and electrical services we provided, key installations included full VRF air conditioning, high specification sanitary ware and feature lighting.
Cedar Court Hotel
The Best Western Cedar Court Hotel is a grade II listed building, dating back to 1671. It stands as Harrogate’s first purpose built hotel, offering four star luxury in the heart of the town.
With large energy bills and an unreliable heating system, the Cedar Court Hotel decide to upgrade to a high efficiency system to achieve greater fuel savings and reduce carbon emissions. We replaced the two old cast iron boilers with six modern condensing boilers, providing up to 98% efficiency. As the installation took place in a working hotel, we had limited shutdown periods to complete the job and ensure minimal disruption.
Not only has The Cedar Court Hotel achieved its target of reducing energy bills, it is now greener on the whole, with a reduction in CO₂ emissions from the fan dilution system. We have also undertaken other installation/alteration works at different Cedar Court Hotel sites.
The Academy, Harrogate
The Academy is a private health club and day spa in the heart of Harrogate, comprising of 4 indoor tennis courts, 3 outdoor tennis courts, swimming pool, beauty spa, crèche, state of the art gym, 3 fitness studios and a café bar.
We provided a full boiler replacement to the facility, which was completed in spring 2014. Throughout the installation we ensured that there was limited down time of the plant so that all of the facilities could stay open as usual. To ensure this, we designed and constructed a purpose-built container outside of the building for the boilers to be housed.

Environmental Technologies, Knaresborough
An international company focused on oil filtration, coolant handling, recycling and high performance/ biodegradable lubricants; Environmental Technologies incorporates technology and products that help minimise environmental impact.
Completed in winter 2011, this new-build project provided office and warehouse space with strong renewable credentials for the client.
Air source heat pumps were used to feed the underfloor warehouse heating in compliance with BREEAM guidance for a rating of ‘Very Good’. The project was completed on time and within budget, and the firm have benefited from their new green installation ever since.
The Richmond Highways Depot is based in Richmond, North Yorkshire. The depot ensures that the highways can keep the roads open throughout the winter months.
The project was completed in August 2008, where we carried out the heating, plumbing, ventilation and electrical services for the fit-out of the offices and warehouse accommodation.
Quality ventilation for the salt storage bay was crucial, incorporating carbon monoxide emission detection. The specially designed extractor system had built in sensors to make the fans increase in speed and extract the fumes from the building. The environment also demanded stainless steel electrical installation and fuel segregation alarms.
AES Seals, Rotherham
AES Seals design and manufacture mechanical seals and support systems. They are a world leading specialist in the field, operating from 230 locations in 104 different countries.
We provided a range of heating, air conditioning, plumbing and electrical services for this £3.5 million new factory extension in Rotherham, which was completed on time in 2008.
The facility required several specialist installations including low voltage busbars to feed machinery, field wiring, climate control for associated offices, and a specialist heat recovery and ventilation system. Power Factor Correction calculations were incorporated into the installation.

Apley Grange Nursing Home, Harrogate
Apley Grange provides personal and nursing care for up to 42 Sisters of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus, as well as having space for respite care. The home comprises of three interlinked houses with a range of communal areas, and a chapel.
The existing nursing home was expanded in 2009, the new extension requiring heating, plumbing, ventilation, underfloor heating and electrical services. We also installed a nurse call system and building management system.
Our commitment to customer service, support and value for money has led to a longstanding relationship with the client, which has resulted in repeat work for various phases of refurbishment and new build over the years.
Princess Road Clinic, Malton
A purpose built NHS community health centre based in Malton, providing improved accommodation for staff and dedicated rooms for patient clinics. The Princess Road Clinic is an energy efficient building with a flexible design and efficient space to meet current and future needs.
Working to NHS criteria on a high-profile site, we provided a range of mechanical and electrical services to the health centre, including underfloor heating, air source heat pumps and air conditioning.
The timber-constructed building required a high-efficiency heating system, as well as specialist lighting to suit NHS requirements, which we ensured were met throughout the project.
Connaught Court was purpose built as a care facility for the elderly in 1971, offering residential, nursing and dementia care. It is situated in extensive parkland of beautifully landscaped grounds, close to the centre of York.
The care home had continuous issues with the high running costs of the boiler plant and the increasing number of breakdowns. We overcame this constraint by installing new, high efficiency boiler plant controls.
The new system was designed by the clients own mechanical and electrical consultant, and we installed the high efficiency boiler arrangement, BMS controls and associated insulated pipework.
The outcome of the installations work meant the care home decreased their running costs, as well as the number of boiler breakdowns.
Vida Hall is an innovative national centre of excellence for dementia care in Harrogate. The 71 bedroom centre was designed to challenge current thinking on all aspects of dementia care, providing two floors of quality accommodation around 2 central courtyards.
Construction of the £5,000,000 building commenced in late 2011. Robinsons M & E Ltd provided all mechanical and electrical installation services. Ventilation was of particular importance to the client, requiring an extremely sophisticated system to ensure cleanliness of air. The electrical installation included lighting, audio visual (aid-call), and mag-locked doors.
Oak Trees Care Home, York
Oak Trees care home is in the beautiful village of Alne, just outside of York. It was refurbished and extended in order to provide effective residential care, designed for the positive well-being of all occupants.
In January 2014, we replaced their existing heating system with a biomass boiler, ensuring that all work was completed while the care home was still operational to avoid disruption. By installing a biomass boiler, the care home will reduce their carbon footprint over time, as well as becoming more energy efficient.
The boiler was installed into a container outside the building, which we designed and built. This ensured that the cross over from the old heating system was done in a very time effective manner, thus having little impact on the operation of the home.
Whitby Care Home, Whitby
A care home based in Whitby, offering residential, dementia and nursing care. It is the town’s first purpose-built care home with ecological features, includes a biomass boiler, solar panelling, LED energy saving lighting and underfloor heating throughout, hugely reducing the carbon footprint of the care home.
The project was completed in winter 2013, where we installed the biomass boiler, mechanical plant, electrical services and underfloor heating to the care home. The biomass boiler ensured that the heating system installation was energy efficient, keeping in line with the reduction of the homes carbon footprint.
The underfloor heating also contributed to the ecological aspect of the home, while creating suitable climate control. The LED lighting also provided the desired lux levels whilst proving highly economical.
Southlands Assisted Living Apartments & Care Home, Leeds
Southlands Assisted Living Apartments & Care Home is located in Roundhay, a suburb just outside of Leeds. The facility underwent a development of 23 purpose built luxury apartments which allows residents to lead an independent life as well receiving round the clock support when needed.
We completed the mechanical installations in spring 2015, which included the underfloor heating, boiler, mechanical plant and BMS controls. As well as this, we also installed the sanitary ware, sprinkler system and air conditioning.
A key feature of the installation was the underfloor heating, which provided the home with appropriate climate control. Underfloor heating removes the need for radiators which could have caused further problems within the home in relation to health and safety.

Regional Agricultural Centre, Harrogate
Completed in June 2009, this mixed use building has been developed for the Yorkshire Agricultural Society to provide office facilities (906 m2) and a farm shop and café (722 m2). The £5.1m building is a flagship for agriculture and rural activity in the North of England.
Renewable technologies were a key feature of the building, incorporating ground source heat pumps, a grey water tank, solar thermal energy and an intelligent energy monitoring system. We also installed the underfloor heating system, air conditioning, ventilation, plumbing and renewable technologies.
All of the installation works were completed in July 2011 on time. By meeting a demanding deadline, we ensured the best interest of the customer throughout.
Lapicida HQ & Showroom, Knaresborough
Lapicida are a luxury tile retailer, with their international headquarters and Europe’s largest stone tile showroom based in Harrogate. The site is a huge three acres, displaying vast quantities of natural stone tiles, slabs and bespoke objects.
We provided all mechanical and electrical services for this large warehouse and flagship showroom. The underfloor heating installed heats the large space effectively to help acclimatise products in situ, and, more essentially, provided large open areas in keeping with the brand’s minimalist theme without placing radiators that would obstruct the displays.
Specialist lighting was vital to display the luxury products at their absolute best, so our team planned and installed the lighting throughout the entire showroom.
Yorkshire Building Society
The Yorkshire Building Society is the second largest building society in the UK with their headquarters based in Bradford, West Yorkshire. We provide our services to branches of the building society throughout the country.
We have a long-standing relationship with the Yorkshire Building Society spanning some 30 years and have been employed directly to provide air conditioning, ventilation, heating, electrical and plumbing services.
Projects have ranged in size over the years, involving single and multi-disciplined works, new build and renovation, all installed to the high standards required by the client and completed on time and to budget.
Hornbeam Park, Harrogate
Hornbeam Park is a modern business park located just outside of Harrogate’s town centre. The park offers a combination of office and industrial space, as well as a variety of onsite leisure facilities.
Our relationship with Hornbeam Park Developments goes back a number of years. Over time we have designed and installed various electrical and mechanical systems for a range of buildings on the site to suit the client’s needs. We also hold a maintenance contract with several of the buildings on the park.
All buildings developed on the Park have been designed to maximise business use and provide multi-functionality and flexibility, so systems installed were in line with this approach.

Winsley Hurst Hall
Winsley Hurst Hall is a late 19th Century property in a private wooded area of Nidderdale, extensively and sympathetically restored and renovated by the owners.
To the client’s requirements, we designed and installed existing mechanical services to this listed building by engineering on to existing systems. The installations included a large oil tank feeding two oil boilers, as well as high-specification sanitary ware.
A key feature of the project is the energy management of the hall. The temperature of each room is individually controlled through the plant room, allowing access through an IPad and other remote sources.
Converted Farmhouse, Ilkley
We assisted this private client and their key requirements throughout the installation project. We ensured that disruption was kept to a minimum, and that their requirements were continuously met. The existing heating system was improved to provide a more energy efficient and high performance specification.
The upgrade to the boiler plant meant that the amount of energy needed to power the boiler and therefore heat the house was reduced. A pressurised hot water system was also installed to the property, which ensured the high performance specification and fed into the power showers.
We worked with integrated controls which meant that all of the installation works could be controlled suitably to the client’s requests.
Serlby Hall is a Grade I listed 18th century mansion and estate in Nottinghamshire.
We installed the original mechanical plant in the early 90’s, and since we have done numerous works over the past twenty years to the present day. Recently we were asked to make the original system installed in the early 90’s more efficient and thus reduce running costs. After a site survey and assessment of options available we were instructed to install three modern energy efficient condensing boilers.
The overall priority was to ensure the reduction of the overall running costs to the property which was achieved. Throughout the installation, care and consideration was always given to the well preserved character of the property.
New Build Farm and Outbuilding, Catterick
A new build private residential property located in North Yorkshire, bordering with Teesside. Thebuild was part of a level six carbon neutral new house build. We provided the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and ventilation installation works to the property.
The installation of the biomass boiler provides the house with an energy efficient heating system. The boiler heats the whole of the house as well as the stables and pool house adjoining the house.
The LED lighting fits with the traditional atmosphere of this magnificent home. The works to the property were completed on time and to the expected standard of the client.
Renovated Townhouse, Harrogate
A large residential property in the heart of Harrogate; housing a gym, swimming pool and cinema.
We finished this project in spring 2014, having undergone the mechanical and electrical works throughout the house. This included full refurbishment of the boilers and underfloor heating, installation of the radiators, the plant room for the swimming pool and the air conditioning for the cinema and gym.
As well as the above, we also installed a high efficiency pressurised water system and bespoke building management system. The hot and cold water system was installed to meet with the high output of water within the sanitary ware. The energy saving building management system could be monitored remotely, which creates flexibility for the owners when away from home.

Ashville College, Harrogate
Ashville College is a private boarding school with a building estate that stretches back over 120 years. The £350k project focused on the refurbishment and modernisation of the three-storey Norfolk House building, which houses 40 senior girls and a number of resident staff.
Bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas were refurbished and renovated across the basement, ground and first floors. We installed the heating, plumbing and ventilation systems, including a number of design measures chosen to enhance efficiencies and reduce running costs of the building.
The works had to be carried out between academic years, resulting in an extremely tight fast-track programme with an immoveable deadline.
Harrogate Grammar School
Harrogate Grammar School dates back to 1903 and now teaches over 1700 students. Since 2002, the school has been extensively renovated and redecorated. A £1,000,000 building programme to provide four more classrooms and a new library was completed in July 2006, followed by a new dining area in 2009. In September 2010 a £2 million state-of-the-art Sixth Form extension opened. In August 2014 a new boiler plant was also installed which reduced carbon emissions and increased the energy efficiency of the school.
We have provided various air conditioning, mechanical and electrical installations to suit the requirements of this ambitious programme of works. The project had many tight time constraints due to the restrictions of a school, however we completed the installation on time as planned.
Craven College, Skipton
Craven College is a further education college based in Skipton, offering a variety of further and higher education courses. It originally opened in 1825 as a mechanics institute, and has since responded to the local and regional needs.
The Whernside Building – A complete refurbishment providing a BREEAM Very Good facility with a refreshed Learning Resource Centre, upgraded offices and social area. The M&E installation includes new LTHW heating, heat recovery ventilation, sanitary ware, domestic water services, roof mounted natural ventilation units, refurbished air conditioning, lighting, power, CCTV, Intruder alarm, fire alarm, structured cabling for IT and lightning protection.
The Ribblehead Building – A new construction providing a new home for students. The M&E installation includes LED lighting and Solar Photo Voltaic Panels that contribute to the BREEAM Excellent rating. Other special features include extract ventilation for the plastering training booths and the installation of legacy equipment such as the wood chipping/sawdust extract system. Bespoke wash troughs are included for tool cleaning and eye wash stations to provide enhanced first aid facilities.
