An Important Reminder on RIDDOR

With a New Year comes new hope for a safe and healthy year ahead for us all, but in the event that something does occur it is important that the correct procedures are followed so here is a brief reminder of RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations) and what it means to you.

RIDDOR places duties on employers, the self-employed and people in control of work premises (the Responsible Person) to report certain serious workplace accidents, occupational diseases and specified dangerous occurrences (near misses).

You need to make a report when there is a:

Death or major injury
Over-three-day injury
Work-related Disease
Dangerous occurrence

If something happens which does not result in a reportable injury, but which clearly could have done, it may be a dangerous occurrence which must be reported immediately (eg by telephone) to the enforcing authority. Within ten days you must follow this up with a completed accident report form (F2508).

Robinson’s take Health and Safety very importantly and all our engineers follow RIDDOR regulations. For further information on RIDDOR please visit the HSE website.
