TM44 Air Conditioning Assessments

Both building managers and owners that have an air conditioning system installed should be aware that they are responsible for obtaining an assessment report if their AC system has a cooling capacity greater than 12kw.  This report is referred to as the TM44 Air Conditioning Assessment.

Which Systems Require a TM44 Report?

Any air conditioning system where refrigeration is used will require a TM44 assessment.  This means separate refrigeration units such as computer servers and beer cellars in pubs etc do not require the report. If you’re unsure if your air con system needs this, just ask!

What Does It Involve?

In most cases, the process is relatively straightforward for an accredited engineer. They will conduct a visual assessment of your air con system and then take a closer look at the equipment and controls to identify overall system efficiency and if there are any faults detected.

This Report Might Not Be What You Think…

Some people mistake this assessment as something that is always undertaken along with the general maintenance and repair of an air conditioning unit. Actually, it’s separate; the TM44 assessment is a report lodged on a Government database and must be undertaken by qualified and accredited engineers approved by the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG).

Our team of air conditioning engineers at Robinsons are able to offer this service to ensure your business is compliant with the latest legislation as part of TM44.  This will cover you for a period of 5 years. It’s also worth noting that not getting your air conditioning system inspected can result in a Government fine of £300.
