Renewable Energy – The First Ever Carbon Emissions Stabilisation

For the first time ever, the world’s energy consumption has increased without causing an equivalent spike in carbon dioxide emissions. This milestone points towards the positive impact that renewable energy investment is having on not only the UK alone, but the world.

Here at Robinsons we are committed to providing renewable energy technologies for our clients, predominantly in heat based technologies such as Biomass and Air Source Heat Pumps.

Biomass

Biomass energy is a renewable, low carbon source of energy that is now widely available throughout the UK. Energy is created when wood pellets, chips or logs are burnt to power a central heating boiler. It is an affordable heating fuel; although the price of wood fuel can vary, it is often cheaper than other heating options.

A few key advantages of biomass include:

  • No harmful carbon emissions
  • Clean energy
  • Abundant and renewable

Air Source Heat Pumps

Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP) work on a refrigeration cycle and extract heat from the outside air and used to heat radiators, underfloor heating systems, or warm air convectors and hot water. They can be up to six times more efficient than traditional heating methods, and can gain heat from the air even when the temperature is well below freezing. A few key advantages of ASHP’s include:

  • Reduce fuel bills
  • Decrease carbon emissions
  • Can provide cooling as well as heating

Although we have just focussed on two technologies here, Robinsons also install and can advise on Solar PV, Solar Thermal and Combined Heat and Power (CHP) systems as well as many other energy efficiency and renewable technology solutions.

When considering installing renewable energy it is important to consider the different options available, and which of the technologies best suits your specific needs.
